Coach Kevin Ollie’s “Kevin’s Kourts”
What: UConn Coach Kevin Ollie announced a $50,000 leadership gift to build the first “adaptive sports” basketball court— "Kevin's Kourt at Jonathan's Dream"—for youth with disabilities.
Results: Elkinson + Sloves, Inc. helped negotiate the teaming up of UConn Coach Kevin Ollie with Jonathan’s Dream (Mandell Jewish Community Center in West Hartford), one of America’s very first “inclusive” playgrounds. E+S conceived and produced the media event. “Kevin’s Kourt” generated national, regional and statewide media coverage, including WFSB TV 3, NBC CT, Fox CT, WTNH TV 8, SNY (New York), Hartford Courant, West Hartford News, WTIC Newstalk 1080, Associated Press, NCAA website and more. E+S also spearhead discussions to team up the Connecticut Housing Finance Authority with Coach Ollie to build additional “inclusive” basketball courts at CHFA funded housing developments in urban markets throughout Connecticut.
